Was the seed already planted decades earlier with a love of rum forged during a Navy career and a shared love of sailing?

Fast forward to late 2020 and our founders (Matt and Karen) were enjoying a drink in their favorite bar in Singapore brainstorming their next adventure when the crazy idea of starting a rum and gin distillery in the Whitsundays emerged.  Following months of feasibility studies and online courses, the Whitsunday Islands Spirit House (WISH) became more than just a crazy idea.

Situated in the Whitsunday region of tropical Queensland, the Whitsunday Islands Spirit House (WISH) will produce quality Rum and Gin, drawing on our regions’ natural and primary resources of sugar cane, water and climate.

Our links to the Whitsunday’s go back 3 decades and it was always our desire to return to the area once our overseas adventures were complete.

Rum has a rich seafaring history in Australia, and the Whitsunday region is Australia’s premier sailing holiday destination. With local Sugar Cane production, a craft Rum spirit will be an asset to both the local beverage industry and the growing tourism market serving domestic and international visitors.

We are on this journey because we have a vision to produce unique distilled spirits that utilise local resources and enhance the Whitsunday regions’ reputation for quality product and service. We have a strong belief that there is an opportunity to develop a Rum and Gin product line that will support local industries and tourism in the area.
